Glory Boxes

I have just been remembering something!

How many of you have had the experience of a Glory Box?

When I was a teenager and had thoughts, plans, dreams of having my own home, there was this great concentration on filling a Glory Box full of hand crafted treasures.

Embroidered Duchess sets, Table cloths, Jug covers, Aprons ( Yes we did use them in "Those days") and all those other delightful pieces we had so much pleasure creating.Just remembering.

China's in the news.

I took my son and we went off to China after attending the Rose Show in Seibu,

Japan. May 2007.

A wonderful experience and we had a terrific guide. A chinese girl called Winnie and she was so knowledgeable on the history.
I would love to go back and take more time. After the Olympics, of course.
All of the new buildings were going up everywhere and there was a sense of panic to get the jobs done. Interesting to see some of the end results of the massive constructions.

The Great Wall was the highlight of the trip and I have some amazing photos.

A month has passed. Oh my.

A month has slipped by and I need to add another post.

I have been working with 'Jade' and I am over the moon with the results.

There is just so much to do. The weather has been very conducive to staying indoors

so more crafty things to do. I like that.

A bunch of Roses

At last. I have finished making a bowl of roses.

This bunch stand 14" high and there are 16 stems all together.

Must say I am quite pleased with them. Maybe too many leaves

and the red rose is a little on the bigger size. But they look OK.

Wedding Cake Decorations in Cold Porcelain

Today I was so thrilled to 'find' these photos on my PC.

Thought I had lost them!

I have hand crafted the decorations for a families wedding which had to be carried back to China with my great Nephew and his Chinese bride.

They are made from Cold Porcelain, which means they become a keepsake, so that is rather special for them.

Todays happenings

I gave a presentation to a lovely group of ladies this morning and then had a delicious lunch.
The girls seemed to be most interested in my STORY of my travels and achievements through the years.
The one part that took their interest was my Roses made from Cold Porcelain.
Reckon I will have some more students !!

Katy's rambles

Welcome to my rambling ways

I hope you enjoy travelling along with me as I go from here to there.
This is my front garden which pretty much looks after itself - as hobbies and other creations get in the way.
My current time consuming hobby is Cold Porcelain. I will be posting some photos shortly for you all to get the idea.
